ok
that seems to have worked. that took about 90 mins. highlights include crashing Opera, hanging firefox and blogger telling me there's an error and maybe i can find out what it is.
but here we are.

i shall try now to post my response to Alan

and then to catch up

I have limited next access and time for the next couple of weeks but shall do my best

I hope not to hold anyone else up
